What is self - awareness

Self-awareness is a self-explanatory term; it means the conscious knowledge of one’s own character and feelings. It is also called being alert about what is happening in the surroundings. Being mentally and physically present in the situation helps in increasing self-awareness. Any person who does not pay attention to details and does not observe his/her surroundings well lacks self-awareness.


Ok, so this is very heavy……in easier words... Self-awareness is nothing but understanding yourself and controlling your emotions. If one is aware of emotions and is able to control them, then only that person will be able to help others.


Like in aeroplanes, they tell you to first put on your oxygen mask and then help others. The same is true with emotions. If you yourself are not stable and would give advice, then it won't be effective and could be damaging to the other person's life.
